How does SMS work without an app? +

SMS is a text message. Any phone that receives texts can get them. No app download needed. No account to create. Your recipients just get a text message like any other text they receive. Your grandma's phone works. So does yours.

How does the button power itself? +

TextMeButton uses kinetic energy harvesting. When you press the button, the mechanical motion is converted directly into electrical power that sends a wireless signal to the hub. There is no battery inside. There is no charging port. There is no solar panel. What happens if the internet goes down? +

The button still sends the wireless signal to the hub. When your internet connection returns, the hub automatically sends the pending SMS messages. Since the hub uses a wired Ethernet connection, it's more reliable than WiFi-based systems that can drop signal.

Can I customize the text message? +

Yes! You can configure each button to send custom messages. For example: "Medicine confirmed at 7:32 AM", "Chickens fed at 6:15 PM", "Dinner ready". You set up the message through the web portal or the app.

How do I set it up? +

Why do text notifications have a limit? +

Every text notification TextMeButton sends is a real SMS message delivered through cell carriers — the same way any text message works. Carriers charge us a fee for every single message we send on your behalf. Your first 12 months of texting (100/month) are on us — we want the core experience to just work out of the box. After that, text packs start at $2.99/month for 500 texts or $7.99/month unlimited. We're not making money on texts — we're just making sure we can keep sending them.

Is my data private? +

Yes. The hub is local to your home — no unnecessary cloud storage. Your phone numbers and press history are encrypted. We never sell or share your information.

Do I need multiple hubs? +

One hub can support multiple buttons. You can add additional buttons for different rooms or different purposes. Each button can be configured to send different SMS messages to different people.

What about smart home integration? +

SMS is our core feature and works out of the box. Smart home integration (Alexa announcements, Google Home, Matter protocol) is on our stretch goal roadmap. If we hit our funding goals, we'll add it. If all you ever need is a text, that works perfectly too.

Warranty, Safety & Legal

5-Year Limited Warranty

TextMeButton products are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a period of five (5) years from the original date of purchase. This warranty covers both the button and the hub. In the event of a product failure due to materials or workmanship, TextMeButton will repair or replace the defective product at its sole discretion.

This warranty is given in lieu of all other warranties, express or implied. TextMeButton specifically disclaims all warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. The total liability of TextMeButton shall in no event exceed the purchase price of the specific product giving rise to the claim. In no event shall TextMeButton be liable for any indirect, special, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.
